About the movement

Our Story

Stronger Women • Stronger North • Stronger Nigeria

Founding

Born in the wards, built for the nation

Halima Shekarau Northern Women Support Group for Asiwaju was founded by Haj. Halima Ibrahim Shekarau to organise the political, economic and social strength of northern women into one coordinated movement.

What began as community outreach in a handful of wards has grown into a structure that spans nineteen states, with coordinators at state, local government, ward and polling unit level.

Today the movement runs empowerment, education, health and humanitarian programmes while registering and verifying members through a single national platform — so that every woman who joins is counted, credited and connected.
